Why We Need More Meetings in Port Harcourt

Dear Industry Colleagues and Partners,

Port Harcourt is the real oil and gas capital of Nigeria, but most oil and gas professional meetings end up in Lagos or Abuja.

Even though some agencies prefer Lagos for political reasons, Port Harcourt should get the recognition it deserves as the heart of the Niger Delta, where most of our oil production happens.

For those of us working in this sector, attending these events often means paying high seminar fees, hotel bills, and return flights, which isn’t always practical. There are hardly any discounts for people coming from outside Lagos or Abuja, making it even tougher.

As for me #GeorgeNWOGU, any event outside Port Harcourt is a “no-go area” for now unless we’re making immediate money that covers the cost of flights and hotels. Otherwise, let’s keep it on Zoom or Teams instead!
