Valentine’s Treat: Project Planning & Cost Control in Oil & Gas — Ardrend Limited & Robotic Tank Cleaning

The reason why there are more jobs in Project Planning than Cost Controls is mainly because of the Asset Owners (Client) we have in the Oil and Gas industry.
The Progress Report serves both external stakeholders (Asset Owner) and internal stakeholders (Contractor Board of Directors), while the Status Report is specifically for internal stakeholders (Contractor Board of Directors) and funding partners.
A careless contractor disregards its own internal stakeholders as long as it satisfies the client’s demands. It’s amusing that if the client (in Nigerian real estate, for instance) lacks the capacity to request certain types of reports, we might forego both progress and status reports and merely provide the client and partners with pictures. This approach essentially suggests that we don’t require project management and project controls management. Instead, the client only receives site pictures without understanding the comprehensive view of project progress, and partners also lack insight into what they are funding.
It’s utter nonsense because engineers can deliver the job as a primitive asset development, but only project management or project controls can effectively manage the project by providing informed and objective reporting. 🛠️
