The Boring Advantage: Navigating From Crush Rejection to Career Triumph 🛢️
Hello Medium Readers! đź‘‹ Sharing a piece of my journey with you.
While #GeorgeNWOGU was “unemployed”, he never watched TV, he studied, trained others, and built his business #BIZVILLEPM. He has no “non-boring friends” because of his purpose and calling. Technically, we work every day without supervision. I learned that a long time ago from my friends in Laspotech (Diploma), and a book “Think Big by Ben Carson” to stay away from too much TV. 🚀👨💼
I was obsessed with Oil and Gas while I was a trainer. I got a publication on the Nigerian Oil and Gas value chain and printed it to study. There was a lady I had a crush on, and I kept talking about the oil and gas value chain to her. She was honest enough to tell me that I was boring, and that is not the first time I’m hearing that. While they were “unemployed” too, they were watching TV and spending time on non-productive tasks “curing boredom”.
By the way, what are non-boring stuff you can think of — watching sports, TV, movies, and musical concerts — and I wasn’t doing any of these. Subsequently, when someone tells me that I’m boring, they are right, and I have to be boring to create value while others have to be “not boring” to create value too; whatever works for you. 🤷🏽♂️ Shortly after that, we parted ways, and I got the SAIPEM role.
Salute to those who’ve faced setbacks but powered through! 💪 Your determination, coupled with “The Boring Advantage”, can turn dreams into reality. 👏
