Principles of Ethical Engagement in Non-Profit Work

--

Dear BIVILLEPM Community,

When you are doing something for non-profit, discipline your mind to do it for free. Even as you need money, a non-profit that is properly managed according to the objects you believe in should be left out from the radar of profit-making, and that is the ethical thing to do.

It still doesn’t mean that they won’t pay for hotels and transportation for you when you go to speaking engagements, but you shouldn’t charge them speaker fees. I’m of the position that even when you volunteer time, you shouldn’t lose money if you are still struggling as a speaker.

For a speaker with 15 years of experience in Nigeria, fees typically range from ₦200,000 to ₦1,500,000 or more per engagement. In the USA, fees can vary widely, ranging from $2,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on various factors.
