Defending Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Industry

The only reason I’m still in Nigeria is because of the Nigerian Oil and Gas sector. My job is to resist all efforts to turn the sector into another FMCG with peanut pay.
People like us, without parents like Dangote and T-Pain, have no hope if not for the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry. 70% of my colleagues with my level of competence have “Japa’d,” but the “Mafia Manager” is going nowhere and will be a pain in your side until Nigerians are given the same opportunities that your kids enjoy in the U.S.
Without Port Harcourt, I would be like your broke engineers in Lagos and Abuja who can’t even afford NSE corporate membership fees.
Let’s be realistic: Nigerian Oil and Gas and local content are the only things that kept me alive and practicing as an engineer. And let’s be clear, I work for my money, and I’ve given my best to my country too.
