Harnessing Academic Excellence for National Growth

Dear BIZVILLEPM Community,

In project management and project controls, we have learned that investing time and effort in developing solutions that go unused, products that fail to sell, or houses that remain unoccupied is ultimately a waste of resources; it mirrors an academic exercise.

While I value academic exercises, those that do not lead to tangible products or services contribute to our underdevelopment. Personal development is important, but without a focus on generating income, it does not enhance the nation’s GDP; in fact, it may inadvertently contribute to its poverty if the market is not taken into account.

The quicker we bring products to market, the more beneficial it is for our country.

In engineering, after successfully conducting lab experiments, we progress to pilot plants and eventually to full-scale production. At each stage, we must remain mindful of the market. If the market does not justify our efforts or if a similar solution already exists, we should leverage that existing solution rather than reinvent the wheel — unless we are innovating to improve upon it.

Finally, if we are not making money or creating value, we should consider spending time with our families instead of pursuing ventures merely for the sake of academic exercises.
