Allocating Time for Key Performance Areas as COO: Your Strategic Approach (Part 4)

I’m thrilled to share Part 4 of our discussion on Chief Operating Officer (COO) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & Targets in Nigeria’s Oil & Gas EPC Sector.

Today, let’s delve into the critical aspect of allocating your time to the major areas of key results. Failing to do so can lead to losing track of priorities. It’s imperative to organize your typical work week using a perspective percentage breakdown.
I recently posted a poll on LinkedIn regarding time allocation across key performance areas to drive success. Here are the options:
1. Option 1: O-60%, S-20%, F-20%
2. Option 2: O-50%, S-30%, F-20%
3. Option 3: O-40%, S-40%, F-20%
4. Option 4: O-40%, S-30%, F-30%

Additionally, attached is a list of responses detailing possible percentage allocations for each category

For example, if you choose Option 4, allocating percentages O-40%, S-30%, F-30% over 5 days workweek, you can calculate it as follows:
- Operational Excellence (O) gets 40% of the total, which is 40% * 5 days = 2 days.
- Stakeholder Engagement (S) gets 30% of the total, which is 30% * 5 days = 1.5 days.
- Financial Management (F) also gets 30% of the total, which is 30% * 5 days = 1.5 days.
It’s crucial to ensure balance across these performance and functional areas respectively to effectively implement your COO on-boarding strategy.
Remember, each section’s performance directly impacts overall business success.
